CAFé CREATIVES

A project delivered over summer 2021 with Arts Connection Powys. Café Creatives aimed to create a space for arts and wellbeing for people to reconnect and participate in gentle, creative activities after the pandemic lockdowns. We wanted to offer a place where group members could take part in relaxed creative activities whilst being in a friendly social environment. Over the summer sessions, we focused on a place-based theme taking inspiration from the Llanfyllin area.

Our group went on walks, wrote poetry, learnt new visual art skills and contributed to a collaborative mural based on a map of Llanfyllin. As the artist leading the group I enjoyed the sense of reconnection and going on a creative journey together throughout the ten weeks. At this point in the pandemic I feel that creative spaces offering opportunities for connection are really important. We had two ladies travel to the sessions from Machynlleth because there wasn't anything similar in their local area, and other local people who said the sessions supported their sense of wellbeing and community.
